Bhairav Kunda Trek - 14 days
Bhairab Kunda is a holy lake named after a destructive name of lord Shiva the "Bhairav".Bhairav Kunda is one of the sacred pilgrimage sites for Shamans. Both Hindus and Buddhist devotees visit this high altitude (4200m) holy mountain lake to pay homage and have a bath for wash sins during every Bhadra (August) Full Moon.
Approximately 5 hours bus ride, we arrive at the trek starting point called Jalbire Bazzar. Jalbire is a traditional small town full of "Newari" culture. From Bhairab Kunda there are no intervening ranges to spoil the views of Himalayan range of Jugal Himal in which peaks include Dorje Lakpa (6966), Madiya (6257M) and Phurbi Ghhyachu (6637m). The mixes of mountain culture along the views on the route of the trek are superb. The highlight of the trek is the Bhairab Kunda, a holy lake situated at (4200m), the dominating skyline and the life style of nomadic people unchanged by time. The trekking group has to be self-contained, as there are no lodges/tea houses.
