Dagala Thousand Lakes is very popular trekking trail route in Bhutan. Dagala Thousand Lakes is a short trek and enjoyable Himalaya sight trekking aroundand near Thimphu city. The name of Dagala Thousand Lakes reason there are a large number of lovely high altitude lakes.Dagala Thousand Lake trek is not so difficult either but there are some long steep climbs. Bhutan Dagala thousand lakes is situated in the heart of the Great Himalayas, the Kingdom of Bhutan with varied climatic conditions has been hidden for centuries. The land of the Thunder Dragon has sequestered itself from the rest of the world.
Dagala Thousand Lake trek starting point is a 29 km drive from Thimphu city to its starting point Geynikha Primary School. The suggested arrangement is to drive to the starting point after lunch and then make the short descent to the first camp in the late afternoon. After the start from the Geynikha Primary School, the trail goes through Geynikha Village and other small villages like Zamto, Chhochhenkha as well as rivers and streams. The trail makes ascents to some valleys somewhere and sometimes, it requires a long, stiff climbs like in the route from Gur to Labatamba and the steep eroded trail from Talakha to Simtokha. The trek is more enchanting when it passes through forests, rivers and valleys and the scenic view of the Dagala range from Pangalabtsa, a pass marked by cairns at 4250 meter is simply enough to forget the tiredness of the trek. From the Talakha, as there is no direct route to chamgang, the finish point of trek, a pick up vehicles can be arranged at either Talakha, or walk three hours down the road with few short cuts where trails avoid switchbacks.

Dagala Thousand Lakes TrekingItinerary
Day 01: Flight from Kathmandu to Paro Transfer to thimphu Hotel.
Fly from Kathmandu to Paro by Buddha or Druk Air and Transfer to Thimpu. During the Flight Duration you will have great opertunatly to see left hand side of the plane breath taking views of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga and other famous Himalayan peaks, including the sacred Mount Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake in Bhutan. When you arrive in Paro our representative will be pick up you from paro airport after immigration formalities and baggage arrival. Our representative transfers you to Thimphu, the modenn capital town of Bhutan which is 55Km far from Paro. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day 02: Drive from Thimphu to Khoma and trek to Geynikha: (14 Km, 4hrs)
Walk through terraced Paddy fields and coniferous forests to the settlement of Geynikha (2950 meters). The route then descends to a chorten that marks a camping place along side a stream at 2800 meters.
Day 03: Trek from Geynikha to Gur: (5Km, 4hrs.)
Crossing a suspension bridge, the trail heads west for a while, then climbs steeply towards the south to a rock platform and a crest at 3200 meters. A further walk of about two hours leads to a camp in a forest clearing at 3350 meters.
Day 04: Trek from Gur to Labatamba: (12 Km, 6hrs.)
Cross the pass at 4240 meters for a view of Spectacular Dagala village. Pass though several herders camps enroute to the foot of the broad Labatamba valley at 4300 meters near Utso Lake, where plenty of Golden Trout flourish. There are so many lakes in the vicinity. Camp near the lake.
Day 05: Trek from Labatamba to Panka: (8 Km, 4 hrs.)
The trail climbs along the western side of the lake to saddle at 4500 meters, where there are good mountain views. From the pass there is a steep descent to another lake at 4350 meters. A short distance beyond the lake leads to the valley and then to Panka at 4000 meters.
Day 06: trek from Panka to Talakha: (8 km, 5 hrs)
The route leads north crossing a pass at 4000 meters, and then climbs along the side of the ridge to a crest at 4270 meters. From here there is a view of the Dagala range and a view of Thimphu, far to the North. It is then a long descent through forests to the Goemba and village of Talakha (3083 meters).
Day 07: Trek from Talakha to Simtokha: (3 Km, 3 Hrs) and drive to Thimphu
Walk downhill on a steep trail to Simtokha from where the Vehicle will pick you up and drive to Thimphu. After three hours trekking Lunch at Simtokha and drive to Thimphu
Day 08: Drive from Thimphu to Paro via Dochu- La pass Explore in City
After breakfast, we drive you Thimphu to Paro via Dochu-la pass (3,088m) to take in the view and admire the chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road. If skies are clear, you may see Masagang, Tsendagang, Terigang, Jejegangphugang, Kangphugang, Zongphugang peak from on the waybefore arrive to Paro you may visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the country built in 1627. In the evening you may explore around mini street in paro and overnight at hotel.
Day 09: Final Departure or alternatively join other program
After early breakfast at the hotel, drive to the airport for flight to your onward destination. Our representative will help you with exit formalities in Paro airports.
