The trail winds through patchwork valleys, dense mossy forests and past icy waterfalls where you can stop to refresh yourself. Around every corner is a tantalizing glimpse of the high mountains, whole horizons are being revealed to you as you reach the high points of your trek.
This trek in the Annapurna foothills to the viewpoint on Poon Hill offers possibly the best of hiking in Nepal. You will enjoy hiking in the spectacular mountain scenery through charming villages inhabited by the Gurungs, Magars; through dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurnas with the picturesque peaks of Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail Peak) dominating the skyline. At the climax of this walk, you will climb Poon Hill at dawn to enjoy one of the most spectacular mountains on Earth. As the sun touches the snow-capped summits, the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m.) and Annapurna (8,091m.) along with a maze of many peaks, slowly begin to appear, like magic, before your eyes. Itinerary Details of Ghorepani Poon Hill Hiking
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel (1350m/4426ft)
Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m/2996ft); you depart early for the seven hours trip by tourist deluxe bus to Pokhara (200 kilometers west of Kathmandu). Optionally you can take a 25minutes flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara
Day 03: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1050m/3442ft) [about 2 hours]; Now you begin your Hike from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga (1577m/5170ft) via Birethanti (1065m/3491) [about 5 hours].
Day 04: Hike from Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani (2675m/8770ft) [about 6 hours]; At the start of the hike, you ascend steeply for first 2 hours and then ascend gently passing through Ulleri (2070m/6786ft) and Banthanti, Magar villages.
Day 05: Hike from Ghorepani to Tadapani (1950m/6393ft) [about 7 ½ hours]. Early morning trip to Poon Hill (3232m.) to enjoy the sunrise view over Dhaulagiri (8167m/26777ft.), Tukuche Peak (6920m/22688ft), Nilgiri (6940m/21278ft), Varaha Shikhar (7847m/25727ft), Annapurna I (8091m/26527ft), Annapurna South (7219m/23668ft), Annapurna III (7855m/25754ft), Machhapuchhre (6993m/22947ft), Annapurna IV (7525m/24672ft), Annapurna II (7937m/26022ft), Lamjung Himal (6931m/22724ft) and other numerous snowcapped mountain peaks
Day 06: Hike from Tadapani (2675m/8770ft) to Ghandruk (1950m/6393ft) [about 3 hours]. It is very easy Hike, it descending gently all the way through rhododendron, oak and other kinds of dense forests.
Day 07: Hike from Ghandruk to Nayapul via Birethanti [about 5 hours] and then drive to Pokhara By Car [40km about 1 ½ hours]
Day 08: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist mini bus [about 7 hours] or alternatively you can take 25 minutes flight.
Day 09: Full Day sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley (DurbarSquare, Swoyambhunath, Boudhanath & Pashupatinath) and Nepalese cultural program with farewell dinner in the evening.
Day 10: Transfer to airport; flight back home. Or Join other activities.
