PM Bhattarai holds bilateral meetings with top SAARC delegates
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai held a series of bilateral meetings with heads of delegations of various South Asian counties on the sidelines of the SAARC summit in Addu city, the Maldives, on Thursday.
PM Bhattarai met Afgan President Hamid Karzai, Sri Lankan President Mahenda Rajapaksa, Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigmi Y. Thinley and Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raja Gilani, exchanging views on bolstering bilateral relations.
The leaders discussed on how to make SAARC more effective in delivering the results. The leaders also exchanged views on the need to work collectively to address the challenges facing the region and turn the SAARC as a vehicle for regional prosperity and development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement.
Yesterday, PM Bhattarai had met President of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed, the host of the 17th SAARC Summit.
