Entrepreneurs discuss Tibet issue
Representatives of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), Nepal Association of Tour and Travel agents (NATTA) and PATA Nepal Chapter on May 15 organized a discussion in the presence of Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, President of Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce, to resolve the fresh problem faced by companies operating groups in Tibet Autonomous Region of China. The meeting decided that all the associations should have a common voice to resolve the issue. It also decided to approach the Chinese authorities for further discussions. According to those companies, Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu has stopped issuing individual visas for Tibet-bound foreigners. According to the new provision, the embassy provides visas only to groups having a minimum of five persons with a single nationality. Companies operating groups in Tibet said the new policy change by Tibetan authorities would hamper their business as they have already received booking for the coming season
